I have been overweight the majority of my life. Physical activity to me was walking the dog. One morning while laying in bed watching television, I saw a spot featuring Personally Fit. I don't know what about it hit me, but I decided to check it out!

My mid-life crisis began on my 41 st birthday. I tilted the scales at 285 pounds with very little if any of that being lean muscle mass. I was recovering from a failed business venture that had taken its toll over about 3 years and when I'm stressed DON'T GET BETWEEN ME AND FOOD…YOU MAY GET RUN OVER!!!

A procrastinator by nature I was always going to get fit and over my life I have tried every fad diet and had worked out intermittently, but never together as a total game plan. I met several of the trainers at p-fit at a fund raiser and decided that they seemed like nice folk so I started considering “joining the gym” but first I needed to lose some of this weight. So I fired up one those fad diets lost about 25 pounds and was coerced by a friend to make the call. Well as usual I didn't get around to it the day I promised and at 5:00 I got a call from her giving me @#%$ then she handed the phone to Matt. Well I was busted so I made an appointment.

That was 5 years, 80 pounds of fat and 4 jean sizes (44-36's) ago. I began working out with Carla who concentrated on changing my life style. It took her a while to convince me that you had to eat to lose, but when I started eating 5-6 meals a day my body started to transform right before my eyes. Once Carla got me out of “intensive care” and my weights reached a point that was not safe for her to spot me I graduated to one of the big boys.

I still back slide on occasion and let a few pounds creep back on now and then but I now have a lot of lean muscle mass to work with and the tools and knowledge to “shape up”!!

I will NEVER EVER “let out” another waistband. If it starts to get tight and uncomfortable I know it's time to clean up my act and if I don't… I suffer till I just can't take the pain any more. But ya know, once you have been to the mountain it doesn't take much of a reminder of the pain and embarrassment to wake you up!




Russell Bauknight (Lost 8% body fat. Total cholesterol dropped 84 points, triglycerides dropped 78 points.)
My reason for joining Personally Fit was not for motivation or weight loss. I had always been active and was in what I believed to be in good physical condition. My major concerns were my high cholesterol level and blood pressure. My cholesterol was slowly creeping upwards and my blood pressure was not responding well to medication. My doctor said that he wanted to start me on cholesterol lowering medication.

When I joined Personally Fit, my trainer restructured my eating habits and modified my workout routines. They incorporated plyometrics into my weight workouts. Plyometrics not only makes the workout versatile, but challenging and fun. Since beginning my workouts at Personally Fit, I have lost body fat and my total cholesterol has dropped (my doctor was satisfied that I do not need the cholesterol medication). At the end of the hour, we always stretch. It‘s amazing how much more flexibility I have gained by relaxing and allowing someone else to do the stretching. Personally Fit is a great environment and they really care about their clients; so much that I have encouraged my family to work out there. My wife and teenage daughter both train two times each week and both have experienced great results from their hard work.
