Personally Fit Staff
![]() Matthew Fulmer (Owner) began personal training in October 1992 and became owner of Personally Fit in November 1993. Matt has AFAA and IFPA certifications in personal training, special populations and nutrition. His physique and size speak volumes about his fitness philosophy. Matt applies what he teaches to others to his own lifestyle. He has won titles in both power lifting and body building competitions. He competed in the ADFPA as a power lifter from 1990-1993 and placed in the top 5 in every meet. As a body builder in 1999, he placed 2nd at the Golds Classic, Wilmington, NC, in the open heavyweight division and 5th in the South Carolina State Open Heavyweight Championships. The following year, 2000, he took 1st place in these same competitions. Today, Matt still works out hard and heavy, but at a fast pace. He works well with clients that have realistic, definitive goals combined with the drive and commitment to succeed. Many of Matts clients have been with him for more than 10 years. Their success has motivated them to stay with Matt and Personally Fit to maintain and even surpass their fitness goals. Matts accomplishments at the gym have afforded him other favorite pastimes: water sports and flying. He spends his time off either on his boat at the lake or in the air high above Columbia, trying out his pilots license.

Melanie Broadwell completed her MS in Exercise Science from the Arnold
School of Public Health in 1993. Her thesis concluded that women benefit from using a
sports drink during high intensity, intermittent cycling. Melanie and her husband, Alan, have 4 children, ages 15, 13, 11, and 8. Melanie knows what it is like to try and stay in shape during pregnancy and how to meet the challenge of getting back to your former self afterwards. She knows very well that what you eat is as important as the intensity and frequency of your workout and enjoys helping clients modify their eating habits. Melanie enjoys training all types of clients from the veteran die-hards to those just beginning. Melanie has been an licensed practical nurse since July of 2008 and completed her associate degree of nursing in December 2009. She feels her two careers go hand in hand. Optimal fitness is dependent on optimal health. |
